[35] 볼랜드, Kylix 2 발표 - 웹서비스를 지원하는 최초의 리눅스 개발툴

아래 기사에서도 알렸드렸던 것처럼, Kylix의 차기버전 Kylix 2가 발표되었습니다.
Kylix 2에서는 예고되었던 것처럼 델파이6와 마찬가지로 SOAP/웹서비스 개발 기능을 추가했다고
합니다. 그리고 새로이 코바와 Borland AppServer, VisiBroker 연동을 지원하게 되었습니다.

현재는 웹서비스 개발 시장이 초기에 있어서 아직 별다른 충격이 없을 수도 있으나, 델파이6로
볼랜드가 먼저 포문을 연 윈도우즈 플랫폼에서는 마이크로소프트가 곧 추격을 해올 것이 당연한 데
비해, 리눅스에서는 Kylix가 독주를 하게 된다는 데에 대단한 의미가 있습니다.

이전 버전에서 Server / Desktop / Open 에디션으로 나뉘었던 것이, 델파이와 C++Builder 등
볼랜드의 이전 제품군과 마찬가지로 Enterprise / Professional / Open 에디션으로 제품군 전략이
수정되었습니다. Kylix 2 Enterprise 에디션은 이전의 Kylix Server 에디션과 가격 변동이 없으나
($1,999), Kylix 2 Professional은 이전의 Kylix Desktop에 비해 소폭 가격이 인상되었습니다.
($199 -> $249)

가격만 조정된 만큼, 이전의 Kylix Desktop이 이름 그대로 데스크탑 개발툴밖에 되지 못했던 것과
달리 Kylix 2 Professional은 다른 제품들의 Professional에 해당하는 기능들이 추가되었습니다.
- 아파치 DSO / CGI 개발 기본 기능 (NetCLX, WebBroker)
- dbExpress, MyBase를 통한 디비 프로그래밍 (DataCLX)

Kylix 2 의 조건별 미국내 가격은 다음과 같습니다. 특기할 만한 것은, Kylix가 델파이 6와 연동
되는 것을 감안, Kylix 사용자 뿐 아니라, 델파이 6 사용자에게도 가격 할인 혜택을 준다고 합니다.

개발툴인 `볼랜드 카일릭스2'(사진)를 발표했다.

볼랜드의 리눅스 운용체계용 개발툴 최신 버전인 카일릭스2는 기업들이 다양한 플랫폼에서 웹
서비스와 e비즈니스를 간편하게 통합하는 애플리케이션을 빠르게 개발·구축할 수 있게 해준다.
